Gorakhpur, Sep 22 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, expressed his support for the launch of the advanced Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms on Monday, asserting that this initiative will enhance investors' confidence and enable citizens to embrace the festive season with more joy and excitement.
During his visit to Gorakhpur, he engaged with local merchants to commemorate the reform's introduction. Earlier, he held a Janata Darbar to address public concerns.
In comments to the media, he noted, "Today marks the beginning of Shrardiya Navratri. The first incarnation of Goddess Durga, Shailputri, is celebrated among followers of Sanatan Dharma nationwide. The Kalash Sthapana ceremony for this occasion is taking place. On this significant day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided a Diwali gift to all of India."
Emphasizing the positive impacts of these reforms, CM Yogi stated, "With the most substantial GST reform to date, the tax rate on common consumer goods has decreased from 18% and 12% to just 5% or even 0%."
He pointed out that both farmers and students are set to gain from these changes. Moreover, he mentioned that a considerable relief has been extended for medicines.
"The GST rate for farmers, who are essential for feeding the nation, is now at 5% or 0%. Additionally, the tax on educational materials for students has dropped from 12% to 0%," he added.
Describing the reform as a catalyst for growth, CM Yogi remarked, "This reform will provide a fresh impetus to the Indian economy. Consumers will enjoy festivals with renewed joy and excitement, leading to increased purchasing power. Consequently, market strength will rise, consumption will elevate, and production will need to ramp up, creating new jobs. In essence, while GST reform may have a single name, its benefits are vast."
The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated a public outreach campaign to raise awareness about these modifications.
"Today, we engaged with merchants, customers, and everyday consumers regarding this GST reform. Our public awareness initiative echoes the slogan: 'Ghati GST, mila uphaar, dhanyawad Modi Sarkar!'" he stated.
Expressing gratitude towards Prime Minister Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, CM Yogi concluded, "Every merchant, every consumer, and every citizen is joyfully celebrating their festivals. I consider it a privilege to be part of this program. I wish everyone a prosperous Shrardiya Navratri.
