New Delhi, July 1 (NationPress) — In a significant step towards achieving comprehensive digitalisation of the coal exploration value chain, the government announced its plans to unveil the Exploration Module on the Single Window Clearance System web portal this coming Tuesday.
Set to be introduced through the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL) by Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on July 4, this innovative module will empower allottees to submit their exploration proposals online. The ministry will then process and approve these submissions through an integrated system.
This module encompasses the complete process of coal exploration, including the approval of geological reports. It facilitates everything from vetting exploration schemes, submitting periodic progress reports, to the submission and approval of geological reports—all managed within a single digital interface.
A statement from the ministry highlighted that this initiative ensures transparency in the handling of exploration data and approvals while adhering to structured timelines for each phase.
“With real-time tracking, automated digital document management, and integrated dashboards, this module is set to significantly cut down the time needed for processing exploration proposals,” the official statement indicated.
Co-developed with CMPDIL, the module incorporates best practices in e-governance and technical validation. It aims to facilitate dynamic monitoring of coal resource assessments while enhancing alignment with the Ministry’s coal block allocation and operationalization strategies.
The launch of the Exploration Module is expected to be a revolutionary advancement in boosting productivity, data transparency, and the speed of approvals in India’s coal sector, contributing positively to the nation’s energy security and sustainable development goals.
In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a Viksit Bharat and a digitally empowered ecosystem, the Ministry of Coal is actively pursuing its digital transformation journey by expanding the functionalities of the Single Window Clearance System (SWCS).
Initially launched on January 11, 2021, SWCS is a trailblazing initiative aimed at providing a cohesive digital platform for securing all necessary clearances and approvals essential for the operationalization of coal mines and boosting coal production nationwide.
