New Delhi, Nov 22 (NationPress) Congress General Secretary and MP K. C. Venugopal announced on Saturday that the Congress party will organize a 'Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod Maha Rally' on December 14 at 1:30 p.m., taking place at Ramlila Maidan in the heart of the national capital. He emphasized that the threat of vote theft poses the most significant risk to Indian democracy today.
Venugopal made this proclamation via the social media platform X, asserting, “The threat of Vote Chori is the most pressing concern confronting our democracy today. To convey a powerful message against attempts to undermine our Constitution, the Congress is set to hold the 'Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod Maha Rally' on December 14th at 1:30 pm at Ramlila Maidan, New Delhi.
He further mentioned, “We have amassed crores of signatures from all over India, denouncing the BJP-ECI’s malicious tactics such as introducing fictitious voters, removing opposition-leaning voters, and manipulating voter lists on a grand scale. The Indian populace has witnessed how the Election Commission of India (ECI) twists rules, overlooks violations of the Model Code of Conduct, and engages in blatant bribery to facilitate BJP's election rigging. The ECI, once a neutral arbiter, has now become a starkly biased participant, eroding the concept of a fair electoral landscape.”
Venugopal confidently asserted, “We will not remain passive observers as this assault on our electoral framework unfolds. This Maha Rally marks just the beginning of our struggle to reclaim Indian democracy from the grasp of the Vote Chors.
Additionally, on November 19, over 200 retired judges, bureaucrats, former Army officers, and diplomats issued a letter criticizing Congress and Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi for his claims against the Election Commission related to the party’s ‘vote chori’ initiative.
This letter garnered 272 signatures, including 16 retired judges, 123 former bureaucrats, 133 retired Army officers, and 14 former ambassadors.
“We, as senior citizens of civil society, express our serious concern that India’s democracy is under siege, not through force, but by a growing wave of malicious rhetoric targeting its foundational institutions. Certain political figures, rather than presenting genuine policy alternatives, resort to inflammatory yet unsubstantiated accusations as part of their dramatic political tactics,” the letter articulates.
