Patna, April 12 (NationPress) Congress officials have launched a fierce critique of the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar, accusing it of persistent underdevelopment, unfulfilled commitments, and the politicization of the caste census.
During a media briefing, Krishna Allavaru, the Bihar Congress in-charge, stated: "Bihar holds the 27th position nationally in terms of development. Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar have collectively let the people of Bihar down. During the 17-month tenure of the Grand Alliance, we had proposed a financial aid of Rs 2 lakh to individuals for small-scale industries, but Nitish Kumar reneged on that promise."
Shakeel Ahmad Khan, the Congress Legislature Party Leader in Bihar, voiced similar concerns regarding the unfulfilled Rs 2 lakh scheme, noting: "We brought this matter up in the Assembly. An all-party meeting had reached a consensus on this initiative for economically disadvantaged communities, yet it remains unexecuted."
Jignesh Mevani, a Congress leader from Gujarat, also criticized the caste-based census executed by the Bihar government.
"The caste census was merely a political stunt. If the government were genuinely concerned, it would have ensured the report's inclusion in the ninth Schedule of the Constitution. Narendra Modi and his coalition do not seek genuine caste justice in India," Mevani remarked.
He further stated that should Congress regain power, it would fulfill its promises regarding caste equity, referencing the welfare model of Telangana during Congress governance as a paradigm.
Other Congress figures, including Madan Mohan Jha and Abhay Dubey, participated in the media session, collectively urging the citizens of Bihar to hold their leaders accountable and demand authentic change in anticipation of the 2025 Assembly elections.
Congress leaders from various states continue to visit Patna to bolster the party's presence in the upcoming 2025 Bihar Assembly election.
Recently, Rajasthan's former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot visited Patna, targeting the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government on multiple fronts, including unemployment and migration.
