New Delhi, Aug 8 (NationPress) Following a pointed critique by the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi against the Election Commission of India (ECI), accusing it of enabling "vote theft" in partnership with the BJP, the Congress party has launched a nationwide initiative aimed at revealing what it terms a ‘fraud on democracy.’

On the social media platform X, Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal drew inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi’s iconic “Do or Die” message during the Quit India Movement, urging a similar commitment to "preserve Indian democracy."

“Just like Bapu rallied us with the ‘Do or Die’ call during the Quit India movement, we must now embark on our own do-or-die mission,” Venugopal stated as he announced an upcoming high-level meeting of party leaders to strategize moving forward.

This meeting is set for August 11 at 4:30 PM at the AICC headquarters (24 Akbar Road) and will be chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. It will also include AICC General Secretaries, state in-charges, and leaders of all frontal organizations within the party.

As part of its campaign, the Congress has directed all Pradesh Congress Committees (PCCs) nationwide to broadcast LoP Rahul Gandhi’s press conference on August 9 at state headquarters, marking it as a “landmark” moment in their mission to “unveil the BJP–ECI connection.”

“Tomorrow, on August 9, Pradesh Congress Committees will screen Rahul ji’s pivotal press conference at state headquarters to shed light on the BJP-ECI alliance in this electoral fraud,” Venugopal noted.

The Congress intends to intensify its criticisms of the ruling BJP over alleged widespread manipulation of the electoral rolls.

During his press conference on August 7, LoP Rahul Gandhi presented a detailed report alleging vote theft affecting over one lakh voters in Mahadevapura, Karnataka, claiming this was merely the tip of the iceberg, as vote theft has been occurring throughout various states.

Point of View

The Congress party's campaign highlights significant concerns regarding electoral integrity in India.
