In a dramatic development on Monday, a proposed joint meeting of leaders aligned with Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal and former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief K. Sudhakaran at Sudhakaran's residence in Kannur was abruptly postponed at the last minute after news of the gathering surfaced in the media. Local Congress leaders identified with both factions had already begun arriving at the residence before the sudden decision to defer discussions.
The meeting was widely viewed within Congress circles as an attempt by the two camps to demonstrate coordinated political strength amid the intensifying leadership tussle. Though leaders publicly described it as a personal interaction, the political messaging surrounding the proposed gathering proved impossible to ignore.
