Kolkata, March 1 (NationPress) In the midst of the ongoing tensions among partners in the INDIA Bloc, Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir made remarks on Saturday that could spark controversy. He indicated that in certain states, regional parties often operate through two doors.

Recently, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) contested the Delhi Assembly elections independently and faced a setback. Similarly, Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress is opting to contest alone in the upcoming West Bengal elections.

In an interview with IANS, Mir stated, "We are all fighting against divisive and communal forces in this country. Historically, we united everyone under a single banner. Congress maintains a clear mission, but in certain areas, regional parties seem to operate through two doors. Our priority in West Bengal is to rejuvenate the dormant Congress at all levels. The rest will be determined by the public."

When questioned about the impact of solo campaigns by parties like the Trinamool Congress on the upcoming elections, he remarked, "It is entirely up to them."

Regarding a potential alliance between Congress and Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, Mir commented, "I've reiterated this numerous times—it's not our prerogative to determine alliances at this moment. Our duty is to fortify our party and organization."

Mir also addressed whether Mamata Banerjee should lead the INDIA Bloc. He said, "When considering national leadership, you must take into account the overarching context. India comprises 30 states, 543 Lok Sabha seats, and numerous assemblies, blocks, and booths. While the success or failure of a party is significant, we must also assess which party possesses national reach and appeal, and which leader embodies that. These are crucial factors to evaluate."

In response to speculations regarding Mamata Banerjee's alleged involvement in illegal infiltration in Bengal, Mir stated, "I have no information about that as of now. My focus is on strengthening the Congress organization and preparing our agenda for the 2026 elections."

As West Bengal prepares for its 2026 elections, political entities like the Trinamool Congress, BJP, and Congress are already formulating strategies for these pivotal polls.
