Kolkata, Oct 25 (NationPress) The objective of the Trinamool Congress in the upcoming 2026 West Bengal elections is to orchestrate a division of not only Hindu votes but also the entire spectrum of non-Muslim votes to maintain its grip on power for a fourth consecutive term, as articulated by the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari.
“The primary aim of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is to fragment non-Muslim votes. She even attempts to ensure that divisions among various sects of Hindus in the state persist. In the hills of North Bengal, she established 11 distinct development boards with the explicit goal of splitting various sects within the Hindu community. Therefore, it is crucial for all these sects to unite to rescue the state from the prevailing misgovernance,” the Leader of the Opposition remarked while addressing a rally in Gangarampur, located in the South Dinajpur district of West Bengal on Saturday.
During the rally, he emphasized the need to form “religion protection” committees at the block level in the state to unify different sects of Hinduism.
“The Chief Minister is attempting to mislead the populace by conflating ‘CAA’ and ‘NRC’. The CAA is already implemented and is intended for granting citizenship, not revoking it. However, the ruling party is perpetuating misunderstandings regarding the CAA,” the Leader of the Opposition stated.
He also commented on the ruling party’s ongoing destruction of the education system in the state. “There are nine lakh undergraduate seats available in the state, but this year, only three lakh have been filled. This indicates that either students are disinterested in further studies or are opting to migrate to other states due to a lack of job opportunities here,” Adhikari noted.
“We have witnessed enough. The current administration is a dictatorial regime that suppresses dissent. Party-affiliated goons are terrorizing women in the state without fear of repercussions. Additionally, land mafias are instigating a climate of fear, all while being shielded by the state administration,” he added.
In response, a Trinamool Congress spokesperson asserted that it is the BJP that consistently fosters divisive politics in the nation, and the specter of such divisive politics continually shadows the Leader of the Opposition.
