Raipur, May 19 (NationPress) As the Congress prepares to initiate its Samvidhan Bachao Yatra in Chhattisgarh, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao made a pointed remark, suggesting the party ought to initiate a 'Congress Bachao Yatra' instead, as it faces the threat of political irrelevance.
The rally is expected to feature prominent Congress figures, including Sachin Pilot and T.S. Singh Deo, and aims to spotlight what the party claims are ongoing assaults on constitutional principles under the BJP-led administration.
In an interview with IANS, Arun Sao remarked: “The Congress party has been the foremost violator of the Constitution. For years, they have manipulated it to further their own interests. Now they are organizing a ‘Samvidhan Bachao’ rally? In reality, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance, the Constitution has gained strength and respect. The government is wholeheartedly dedicated to preserving constitutional values.”
“The reality is that the Congress should be launching a ‘Congress Bachao Yatra’ as the party is gradually heading toward political oblivion.”
Regarding the recent directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs, which instructs all states and Union Territories to form Special Task Forces (STFs) to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants within 30 days, Sao stated: “There are significant concerns surrounding illegal inhabitants residing without proper documentation. These individuals need to be identified, and suitable measures must be enforced. The government is already progressing in that direction.”
When queried about the Trinamool Congress’s refusal to contribute any of its MPs, including Yusuf Pathan, to India’s international delegations aimed at combating Pakistan’s cross-border terrorism, Sao was critical.
“The Trinamool Congress has consistently demonstrated that it neither honors the Constitution nor the nation’s interests. Mamata Banerjee is struggling to administer West Bengal, and now her party is distancing itself from national matters. The public is observing this closely,” he asserted.
The BJP-led central government had designated Baharampur MP Yusuf Pathan as the sole Trinamool MP to join the all-party delegations sent to various nations as part of India’s diplomatic efforts following the Pahalgam tragedy and the recent tensions with Pakistan.
