Bhopal, Nov 19 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh's Leader of Opposition (LoP), Umang Singhar, claimed on Wednesday that police have placed Congress workers under detention prior to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's visit to engage in a public program in Panna district.

Singhar asserted that the Congress members intended to meet the Chief Minister to present a memorandum addressing local concerns during his visit. However, district police detained them and imposed house arrest before the CM's arrival.

In a video message, Singhar stated, "Congress workers aimed to meet Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to voice the grievances of local residents, yet they were detained and placed under house arrest," adding that, "the Congress workers were not staging a protest; they were simply highlighting public issues."

As of now, district police have not issued any statement regarding the allegations made by Congress.

At 3 PM, Chief Minister Yadav arrived in the diamond city of Panna from Khajuraho to partake in two events across various Assembly constituencies within the district, where he will unveil development projects and inaugurate completed ones. According to the itinerary, CM Yadav is scheduled to depart from Panna at 5:30 PM.

Panna has recently celebrated a significant achievement as its globally renowned diamonds have received the coveted Geographical Indication (GI) tag, marking Madhya Pradesh's 21st GI product.

This long-awaited recognition is poised to elevate Panna's diamonds, establishing a unique identity both nationally and internationally, while greatly enhancing their brand value.

The GI tag, awarded following a process initiated on June 7, 2023, is expected to transform the local diamond industry. Experts predict it will foster transparency, ensure quality, and boost global recognition, thereby creating new job opportunities in mining and benefiting numerous families.

Additionally, this tag will broaden export opportunities, leading to a substantial rise in state revenue.

This will enhance trade and draw visitors from across the nation and beyond, granting Panna a revitalized identity.

Known as the 'Diamond City', Panna is celebrated for its extensive diamond mines and a variety of precious gemstones.

The citizens of Panna are overjoyed as their long-expected demand has finally been met.
