Jaipur, Nov 19 (NationPress) The Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, has given the green light for the formation of a Department for Overseas Rajasthani Affairs.
The resolution was made during a Cabinet meeting convened on Wednesday at the Chief Minister’s Office.
Several significant initiatives were endorsed, including the Rajasthan Global Capability Centre (GCC) Policy-2025 and a collaborative venture involving RVUNL and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
During a press conference, Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa, Industry and Commerce Minister Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel disclosed that the new department aims to serve as a robust platform for interaction and collaboration between the state government and the global Rajasthani community.
This department will formulate a policy structure that enables Overseas Rajasthanis to take advantage of state government programs while simultaneously addressing their concerns.
Additionally, it will play a pivotal role in internationally promoting ‘Brand Rajasthan’ through various cultural, economic, and community outreach initiatives.
The department will host events such as Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas, Pravasi Rajasthani Samman Samaroh, and community exchange programs. A specialized portal is also slated for launch to facilitate the registration of Rajasthani diaspora associations.
This announcement upholds a pledge made by the Chief Minister at last year’s Pravasi Rajasthani Conclave.
Colonel Rathore revealed that the Cabinet has ratified the Rajasthan Global Capability Centre Policy-2025, which aspires to position the state as a leading global center for innovation and investment. The policy aims to establish over 200 GCCs by 2030, generating 150,000 jobs and significantly contributing to India’s burgeoning $100 billion GCC market.
According to the policy, benefits from RIPS-2024 will be extended to GCCs, including a 30% capital investment subsidy (up to Rs 10 crore, excluding land and construction costs), a reimbursement of up to 50% of land/lease expenses (capped at Rs 1 crore), a 30% payroll subsidy (up to Rs 1.25 lakh per employee annually for three years), rental assistance (50% of rent for the first three years and 25% for the following two years, totaling up to Rs 5 crore per GCC yearly), and skill development aid of 50% of training costs (up to Rs 2.5 crore per GCC annually).
Deputy Chief Minister Bairwa also announced the establishment of a new joint venture between Rajasthan State Power Generation Corporation Limited (RVUNL) and SCCL.
In the JV, RVUNL will hold a 26% stake, while SCCL will control 74%. This joint venture will set up an 800 MW coal-based thermal power project at a mining site, with an investment of Rs 9,600 crore, alongside a 1,500 MW solar power project in Rajasthan costing Rs 6,000 crore.
The Cabinet has also approved the renaming of Government College, Kalandri (Sirohi) to Sanghvi Hirachandji Phoolchandji Government College, Kalandri and Government College, Kailash Nagar to Matushree Puribai Punmaji Mali Torso Government College, Kailash Nagar.
This endeavor is intended to honor benefactors and stimulate philanthropic contributions to educational institutions.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel announced the allocation of 161.45 hectares of land in Karanisar, Bhatiyan (Pugal tehsil, Bikaner district), and 356.25 hectares in Kharnai (Rawatbhata tehsil, Chittorgarh district).
