New Delhi, Feb 11 (NationPress) Deputy Chief Minister and Karnataka Congress President D.K. Shivakumar stated on Wednesday that "our party" established the foundation for 'Vande Mataram', asserting that "it is our party that bestowed upon this nation the national flag, the national anthem, the Constitution, and freedom. "Our party has constantly served this nation," he added.

In response to media inquiries at Karnataka Bhavan in Delhi, he remarked, "The BJP and other parties are now emulating our initiatives, which brings us joy.”

When questioned about the push for ‘Vande Mataram’ to receive equal reverence as the national anthem, he remarked, “We incorporate ‘Vande Mataram’ into our programs from the outset. We show our respect for ‘Vande Mataram’ and adhere to it.”

Shivakumar reflected on historical decisions, mentioning, “During S.M. Krishna’s tenure as Chief Minister, we mandated Kuvempu’s ‘Jaya Bharata Jananiya Tanujate’ as the state anthem, which includes the line ‘Sarvajanangada Shantiya Thota’ (a garden of peace for all communities). We cultivate a peace garden for all communities, referencing various religions including Hindus, Christians, and Muslims.”

When asked if this could lead to the existence of two national anthems, he replied, “We will discuss that later.”

Regarding his brother D.K. Suresh’s comments on Siddaramaiah’s commitments, Shivakumar said, “Only time will reveal the truth. We understand what we have agreed upon.”

When inquired about his meeting with Priyanka Gandhi, he simply stated, “I recently visited the Congress office and am currently occupied with the Assam election efforts. Why should we discuss various issues separately? I will address this later. Time will provide clarity.”
