Bengaluru, Nov 7 (NationPress) In celebration of the 150th anniversary of the song 'Vande Mataram', a large-scale singing event took place on Friday morning at the BJP state headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, in Bengaluru. During the festivities, the BJP accused the Congress party of conspiring against 'Vande Mataram' since the time of Independence.
The event saw the presence of BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra, former Deputy Chief Minister and MP Govind Karjol, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalawadi Narayanaswamy, alongside former deputy chief ministers, ministers, MLAs, State Vice President, and State Coordinator for the Vande Mataram 150th Anniversary celebrations, Malavika Avinash, along with party members and supporters.
As part of the year-long celebrations for Vande Mataram, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a nationwide program from New Delhi, which B.Y. Vijayendra and other dignitaries viewed live before the local event commenced.
While addressing the gathering, BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra emphasized that 'Vande Mataram' has significantly contributed to fostering patriotism among Indians. He claimed, however, that there has been a persistent conspiracy against it.
“The conspiracy against 'Vande Mataram' has been orchestrated by the Congress party since its inception,” Vijayendra alleged.
He added that 'Vande Mataram' inspired the nation during its colonial struggle and was pivotal in igniting the freedom movement. The NDA government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to host special events to inspire the youth through 'Vande Mataram' to achieve the vision of a developed India by 2047, Vijayendra stated.
'Vande Mataram' was penned by Bankimchandra Chatterjee in 1875 and was first publicly sung by Rabindranath Tagore in 1896. In 1950, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the then President of India, granted 'Vande Mataram' equal status to the National Anthem, Vijayendra noted.
He concluded by stating that the song 'Vande Mataram' symbolizes patriotism, integrity, and unity that once united the nation against British oppression. Today, it embodies development and strength, and every Indian should recognize the significance of 'Vande Mataram', he stressed.
