Controversy Surrounds Proposal to Honor K'taka CM Siddaramaiah with Road Naming in Mysuru

Mysuru, Dec 25 (NationPress) Objections have been raised against the initiative to name a road after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Mysuru city, prompted by allegations pertaining to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
The Mysuru City Corporation has recently published an advertisement in newspapers seeking public objections regarding its proposal to designate the roadway stretching from Sri Laxminarayana Swamy temple to Metagalli Royal Inn Junction as "Siddaramaiah Arogya Marga".
This advertisement, released on December 13, invites the community to submit their objections in writing within a 30-day timeframe.
During the council meeting held on November 22, the Mysuru City Corporation made a decision regarding this matter.
In response to this development, Bhanu Mohan, President of the Parisara Samrakshana Samithi, expressed her concerns in a letter to the Mysuru City Corporation, highlighting that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is currently under investigation by the Mysuru Lokayukta.
"Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has been charged under Sections 120B, 166, 403, 406, 420, 426, 465, 468, 340, 351 of the IPC, along with Sections 9 and 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Sections 3, 53, and 54 of the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act, as well as Sections 3 and 4 of the Karnataka Land Grabbing Prohibition Act," Bhanu Mohan stated.
"In this case, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is identified as accused number one. It would convey a negative message to the public to name a road after him under these circumstances," she emphasized.
"Given the current situation, I am formally objecting to the proposal to name the road after CM Siddaramaiah until the conclusion of the court trial and the delivery of a verdict. If Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is exonerated, then the prospect of naming the road after him can be reconsidered," she demanded.
Bhanu Mohan has also included the case details and FIR alongside her objections.
The petitioner in the MUDA case, Snehamayi Krishna, voiced surprise at the Mysuru City Corporation's decision to propose naming a public road after an individual who is facing numerous allegations.
CM Siddaramaiah is currently under investigation by both the Lokayukta and the Enforcement Directorate regarding the MUDA scam, for allegedly securing 14 plots for his family in violation of established regulations.
