BJP Questions Siddaramaiah's Ethical Duty in Road Naming Proposal

Bengaluru, Dec 25 (NationPress) In light of a proposal to name a section of road after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who stands as a main accused in the MUDA case, the Karnataka BJP expressed strong disapproval on Wednesday, questioning whether the CM feels any moral obligation.

BJP State President B. Y. Vijayendra remarked, "The Mysore kingdom was established and cherished by its royal rulers. It is inappropriate for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to propose naming a road after himself, considering its historical significance tied to a great royal lineage."

Vijayendra further questioned, "How logical is it for the Mysuru City Corporation, which has no elected representatives at present, to make such a decision?"

"While in power, does the Chief Minister not recognize a moral obligation as he seeks to cement his legacy? Such behavior is reminiscent of governance styles from the era of Tughlaq," he criticized.

Objections have emerged regarding the proposal to name a road after Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Mysuru, particularly in light of the allegations against him in the context of the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case.

Recently, the Mysuru City Corporation published an advertisement inviting public objections to its proposal of designating the road from Sri Laxminarayana Swamy temple to Metagalli Royal Inn Junction as 'Siddaramaiah Arogya Marga'.

The advertisement, released on December 13, invites the public to submit objections in writing within a 30-day period.

In response to this development, Bhanu Mohan, President of the Parisara Samrakshana Samithi, addressed a letter to the Mysuru City Corporation, highlighting that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is currently under investigation by the Mysuru Lokayukta.

"In this scenario, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is identified as the main accused. Naming a public road after him under these circumstances would convey a negative message to society," she stated.

"Therefore, I submit these objections and request that the road not be named after CM Siddaramaiah until the court trial is concluded and a verdict is reached. If Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is exonerated, then the proposal for naming the road after him could be reassessed," she insisted.

Bhanu Mohan also included the case details and FIR with her submission.

Snehamayi Krishna, the petitioner in the MUDA case, expressed surprise at the Mysuru City Corporation's decision to name a public road after the primary accused facing multiple charges.

Currently, CM Siddaramaiah is undergoing scrutiny by both the Lokayukta and the Enforcement Directorate concerning the MUDA case, accused of unlawfully obtaining 14 sites allocated to his family.
