Bengaluru, July 23 (NationPress) The Chief of BJP's Karnataka unit, B.Y. Vijayendra, stated on Wednesday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his relatives continue to be implicated in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam case, with the Supreme Court not having declared them innocent.
Addressing reporters in Bengaluru, Vijayendra remarked, "The Supreme Court has dismissed the petition submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) related to the MUDA scam, which I acknowledge. I also respect the critical remarks from the Apex Court. Nevertheless, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has yet to receive a clean slate."
He further asserted, "To this day, the BJP's position is unmistakable: the Chief Minister and his family are entangled in the MUDA scam. An FIR is filed against them, and the Supreme Court has not exonerated them. Siddaramaiah persists as an accused in this matter."
Vijayendra stressed the seriousness of the issue, calling for an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Previously, Siddaramaiah had welcomed the Supreme Court's ruling to uphold the Karnataka High Court decision that nullified the ED notice directed at his wife regarding the MUDA case. He demanded a public apology from the leaders of the BJP and JD(S).
On Monday, the Supreme Court rejected the Special Leave Petition (SLP) lodged by the ED, which contested the Karnataka High Court's ruling that quashed the ED notice against the wife of the Karnataka CM and Minister Byrathi Suresh.
The Chief Justice of India (CJI) bench raised concerns regarding the ED notice.
Chief Justice B.R. Gavai noted his unfortunate familiarity with similar situations in Maharashtra, stating, "Do not compel us to comment further. Otherwise, we will have to make very stern remarks about the ED. Let political disputes be resolved by the electorate. Why allow yourself to be manipulated for this?" the bench challenged.
In the meantime, regarding the establishment of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate allegations of mass graves at a Hindu pilgrimage site in coastal Karnataka, Vijayendra commented, "The issue should undergo a detailed and transparent investigation to unveil the truth. However, the state government must ensure that this matter does not disrupt harmony or propagate misinformation."
Vijayendra also condemned Congress leaders for their alleged disruptions outside the BJP headquarters, Jagannath Bhavan, in Bengaluru, stating, "This behavior is intolerable. We have already submitted a memorandum to the Bengaluru Police Commissioner to address this issue. I urge Shivakumar to take responsibility and put an end to it."
