Bengaluru, Feb 7 (NationPress) Karnataka BJP President B. Y. Vijayendra stated on Friday that the High Court has not provided a clean chit to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah concerning the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) matter.
During a media session on Friday, Vijayendra elaborated that social activist Snehamayi Krishna had approached the Karnataka High Court, seeking a CBI inquiry into the case. However, the High Court dismissed the plea.
He clarified that this dismissal does not imply that CM Siddaramaiah has been found innocent.
"The High Court has not absolved Chief Minister Siddaramaiah from the accusations. It has merely indicated that the case will not be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)," Vijayendra stated.
He further highlighted that this ruling does not diminish the BJP's ongoing struggle and demonstrations, including their padayatra (foot march), concerning the involvement of the CM's family in the Mysuru MUDA issue.
Vijayendra noted that investigations by the Lokayukta and Enforcement Directorate (ED) are still active, and the results are yet to be revealed.
"We are committed to revealing the participation of the CM's family in the MUDA fraud, which involves thousands of crores of rupees. Our allegations remain steadfast," he asserted.
Vijayendra mentioned that the BJP would provide further updates once the Lokayukta investigation report is available.
He reiterated that the High Court's ruling today does not exonerate the Chief Minister or his family and stressed the importance of awaiting the Lokayukta's conclusions.
The Karnataka High Court annulled the petition requesting a CBI investigation into the MUDA scandal, where Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is identified as the principal accused.
In response to a query, Vijayendra also pointed out that in the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) case involving former CM B. S. Yediyurappa (his father), the Karnataka High Court has dismissed the summons issued by a subordinate court.
He acknowledged that this issue had been under review in the High Court for an extended period, and based on those discussions, the court has now mandated a reassessment of the lower court's summons.
The High Court turned down the petition by B. S. Yediyurappa, seeking the dismissal of the POCSO case against him. Nevertheless, the court has granted him anticipatory bail.
