Karnataka BJP Accuses Siddaramaiah of Abusing Police Power in MUDA Controversy

Bengaluru, Dec 17 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP alleged on Tuesday that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has misused police authority to intimidate complainant Snehamayi Krishna in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) matter.
Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra commented on the High Court's decision to stay the FIR against Snehamayi Krishna, stating that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has habitually misused his power to obstruct investigations concerning him, fully aware that the allegations could be substantiated.
“As highlighted by petitioner Snehamayi Krishna, the Congress-led Karnataka government, unable to entice or coerce him, has resorted to the disgraceful strategy of employing police force to silence him. The BJP calls on the Governor to take prompt action against those officials who are compliant with the Chief Minister's directives,” he remarked.
He further asserted that it is clear to observers of the investigation that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has exerted influence over the Lokayukta.
“In this situation, as the petition for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry in the High Court nears its conclusion, the Chief Minister appears to be visibly unsettled,” he added.
He contended that in a bid to silence complainant Snehamayi Krishna, the Chief Minister has misused police authority by instructing officials to lodge a false complaint and detain him.
“The stay order issued by the High Court against this conspiracy is a positive development,” Vijayendra stated.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Karnataka High Court issued a stay on the FIR filed against Snehamayi Krishna for allegations of obstructing duty, stemming from a complaint by Chamundeshwari Temple Authority Secretary, M.J. Roopa.
Snehamayi Krishna had accused Roopa of being involved in the sale of sarees that devotees offered to Goddess Chamundeshwari.
The MUDA case involves the purported illegal allocation of 14 plots to Siddaramaiah's family by the MUDA. Following these allegations, Siddaramaiah's family returned the plots. Currently, the Karnataka Lokayukta and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) are investigating the issue. Snehamayi Krishna has approached the High Court requesting a CBI investigation into the case.
