Patna, Aug 6 (NationPress) A notorious inter-state criminal, Roshan Sharma, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg during an escape attempt from police custody early Wednesday in Kurkuri village, located on the outskirts of Patna.

This incident has been confirmed by Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma.

According to the SSP, Roshan Sharma was apprehended in Jehanabad and was being transported to Patna for further inquiries.

“During interrogation, Roshan disclosed information that led to the recovery of several weapons and the dismantling of a mini gun factory in the Phulwarisharif area, where raw materials and other incriminating evidence were seized,” SSP Sharma stated.

As he was being escorted to apprehend one of his accomplices, Roshan attempted to seize the officers' weapons and make his escape near Kurkuri village.

“Our team acted swiftly to pursue him and successfully subdued him after firing a shot into his leg. He was immediately taken to a local hospital for treatment,” said SSP Sharma.

After initial care, doctors transferred him to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for further medical attention.

Roshan Sharma is a dangerous criminal wanted in over 18 cases of murder, robbery, dacoity, and more across Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.

His criminal record dates back to 2004, and he was recently connected to a shooting incident near the bus stand under Ramkrishna Nagar police station in Patna.

“We have notified the police departments in Jharkhand and West Bengal about his arrest,” Sharma added.

This event occurs amid a statewide police operation called 'Operation Langda', initiated in response to a recent surge in criminal activity across Bihar.

In a related matter, the Saran police arrested another criminal, Randhir Kumar alias Bhuwar, following an encounter in Taraiya, where he too suffered a gunshot wound to his leg during the confrontation.

Police officials state that Operation Langda aims to dismantle active criminal networks operating in Bihar and its neighboring states.
