In a press briefing, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya Sharma stated that Sharma was detained in relation to the April 21 shooting incident, where a bus driver was tragically shot at Bairiya Bus Stand, Masaurhi Mor, under the jurisdiction of Ramakrishnanagar Police Station.
Following investigative leads, police apprehended Sharma in Jehanabad and transported him to Patna for further questioning.
While guiding the police to the hideout of one of his accomplices, Sharma made an effort to seize a constable's firearm near Kurkuri village under Phulwarisharif Police Station and attempted to escape on Wednesday.
He was ultimately captured after a brief pursuit, which culminated in an encounter where he sustained a gunshot wound. He was subsequently admitted to PMCH for medical treatment.
Sharma is reportedly linked to multiple criminal cases across Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, rendering him a significant target for law enforcement agencies.
Based on his information, the Patna Police executed raids at various locations, resulting in substantial recoveries from his associate Dhirendra Kumar, also known as Kakku Mahato, in the Phulwarisharif area.
The police confiscated a scooty and an Apache motorcycle, in addition to four country-made pistols, one standard pistol, two magazines, and several live cartridges.
Moreover, Patna police dismantled a mini illegal arms manufacturing unit in Dhanki village under the Agamkuan police station. A substantial amount of materials for crafting country-made weapons, along with several semi-manufactured firearms and other related materials, were seized.
SSP Sharma characterized the arrest as a significant breakthrough, underscoring its critical role in disrupting the illegal arms trade in the region.
He added that ongoing investigations aim to trace the entire network and capture remaining members of the criminal organization.
