Patna, July 22 (NationPress) In a significant development in the Chandan Mishra murder case, a combined force of the Bihar STF and Bhojpur police apprehended three suspects following an encounter in Bhojpur district on Tuesday.
The confrontation occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m. near a river along the Bihiya-Kateya road, within the jurisdiction of the Bihiya police station.
Acting on intelligence reports, the police and STF encircled the individuals connected to the Chandan Mishra murder.
In retaliation, the suspects opened fire, leading to a return of gunfire from the police.
Two of the suspects, Balwant Kumar (22, from Liladharpur, Buxar) and Raviranjan Singh (20, from Chakrahi, Bhojpur), were injured during the shootout.
Balwant suffered wounds to his hand and leg, while Raviranjan was shot in the thigh. The joint operation also resulted in the recovery of two pistols, a homemade Katta, two magazines, and several live rounds. A heavy police presence was noted in the area as it was secured.
Both injured suspects were first transported to Bihiya Hospital before being referred to a more advanced medical facility.
The Bhojpur ASP confirmed that a total of three suspects were arrested during the operation.
Sources indicated that information gleaned during the interrogation of the primary suspect, Mohammad Taushif alias Badshah, who is currently on a three-day police remand in Patna, led to these arrests in Bhojpur.
Gangster Chandan Mishra was fatally shot at Paras Hospital in Patna on July 17.
Patna Police had previously reported that nine individuals were implicated in the conspiracy and execution of the murder.
With these recent arrests, the number of individuals apprehended in the Chandan Mishra case has now reached seven.
