Key Takeaways
Patna, March 15 (NationPress) In a remarkable display of prompt and organized efforts, the police in Bihar's Saharsa district successfully cracked the notorious murder case of Satish Jha, also known as Chhotu Mishra, just 36 hours after the incident.
The tragic event unfolded on March 13 near Mira Talkies within the Sadar Police Station's jurisdiction, where armed assailants on a motorcycle brazenly shot Chhotu Mishra in broad daylight.
Following the murder, law enforcement quickly initiated an investigation utilizing a combination of technical surveillance, analysis of CCTV footage, and human intelligence, resulting in the apprehension of five suspects, including the primary shooters.
Due to the gravity of the situation, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was established under the leadership of the district Superintendent of Police (SP) Himanshu Kumar.
Utilizing CCTV evidence and intelligence reports, police arrested the main shooter, Rohit Kumar, alias Mitthu, in the adjacent Supaul district.
Another shooter, Navneet Kumar, was detained in Vidyapati Nagar, located in Bihar's Samastipur district.
Through their interrogations, authorities subsequently arrested three accomplices suspected of participating in the murder and concealing the weapons.
During the investigation, police conducted a raid at the residence of accomplice Saurabh Kumar Mishra, where they seized a substantial arsenal of firearms.
This haul included four pistols, one revolver, one country-made pistol (known as katta), two magazines, 12 live cartridges (both 7.65 mm and 9 mm), and a knife believed to have been used in the crime.
SP Himanshu Kumar remarked that the recovery of such a considerable amount of weaponry indicates a potential larger conspiracy.
"Initial investigations suggested that this murder stemmed from a longstanding feud," he stated.
Records indicate that Karan Tiger was murdered in August 2019, with Chhotu Mishra being the primary suspect in that case.
Investigators suspect that the recent murder was an act of revenge for Karan Tiger's death.
The authorities have lodged a case at the Sadar Police Station under an FIR, implementing sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
"The criminal backgrounds of the suspects are under review. The confiscated weapons have been forwarded for ballistic examination, and operations are ongoing to apprehend remaining fugitives," stated SP Himanshu Kumar.
The police department has assured that all individuals involved in this homicide will face severe legal repercussions.
