Kolkata, July 19 (NationPress) A collaborative effort between the Patna Police and the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police led to the detention of five additional suspects linked to the murder of a gangster within a Patna hospital in Bihar on Saturday.
This recent detention adds to the earlier capture of five individuals by the same joint operation.
The morning arrests occurred at a housing complex in New Town, located in the northern outskirts of Kolkata, while the later suspects were apprehended at a guest house in the Anandapur area, situated in the southern part of the city.
According to a police insider, “The five individuals taken into custody are believed to have been involved in the murder of the Patna gangster.”
These additional arrests were made after the suspects were identified through CCTV footage monitoring traffic movements.
As per the information gathered by investigators, all ten detained individuals from Kolkata are thought to have been directly involved in the assassination of Chandan Kumar, also known as Chandan Mishra, a convicted murderer who was on medical parole.
Mishra was shot dead by five armed attackers inside the ICU of a private hospital in Patna last Thursday.
Previously incarcerated at Beur Jail in Patna, he had been granted parole for medical treatment. At least 24 criminal cases were pending against him across various police stations in the Buxar district, where he was serving a sentence for one of those cases.
Police reports indicate that Mishra was killed just one day before he was due to be discharged from the hospital.
This shocking hospital shooting has sparked serious concerns regarding the law and order situation in the Bihar capital, which has recently made headlines for multiple murders in the area. Notable among the victims are businessman Gopal Khemka, BJP leader Surendra Kewat, and lawyer Jitendra Mahato.
