Srinagar, Feb 14 (NationPress) - G.P. Singh, the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), affirmed on Saturday the organization’s unwavering dedication to the well-being of the families of the martyrs from the Pulwama terror attack. On the seventh anniversary of this tragic event, the DG honored the memory of the 40 personnel who sacrificed their lives in 2019.
He emphasized the force’s ongoing commitment to support the families of the fallen heroes. The DG stated that the CRPF and its welfare division remain steadfast in their assistance to the families of the departed personnel. “In 2019, we lost 40 courageous individuals. Today, we gather to pay homage to their bravery. Various welfare initiatives have been implemented for these families, including housing, land allotments, and financial aid,” said the DG CRPF.
So far, nineteen families of martyrs have been allocated homes, while others have received land through local government support. As the children of martyrs reach adulthood, they are being offered compassionate job placements, alongside significant financial assistance extended to all affected families.
“To enhance support and address daily challenges, the CRPF has introduced the Brave Family App, enabling martyrs’ families to connect directly with the welfare directorate of the force. The CRPF is committed to assisting not only the families of the Pulwama martyrs but also those who have lost loved ones in subsequent operations. We stand with them and will continue to fulfill their needs,” asserted the DG.
The Pulwama attack occurred on February 14, 2019, when a convoy transporting CRPF personnel was targeted by a suicide bomber in Lethpora, Pulwama district.
Previously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored the brave souls, stating, “We remember the courageous heroes who sacrificed their lives in Pulwama on this day in 2019. Their unwavering commitment and service to our nation will forever remain in our hearts. Every Indian draws strength from their enduring bravery.”
Forty CRPF personnel, along with the bomber, Adil Ahmad Dar, a local youth, lost their lives in this attack, which was claimed by the Pakistan-based terrorist organization, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). This incident significantly impacted India-Pakistan relations, leading to the military standoff in 2019. Investigations have since identified 19 suspects; by August 2021, the main accused and six others were killed, while seven were arrested.
