Srinagar, Feb 14 (NationPress) On the seventh anniversary of the Pulwama terror attack on Saturday, a memorial service took place at Lethpora in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district to honor the martyrs.

Officials stated, "A memorial ceremony was conducted at the Martyrs Memorial by the 185 Battalion of CRPF in Lethpora to honor the Seventh Anniversary of the Pulwama attack."

Attendees included Gyanendra Pratap Singh, IPS officer and CRPF Director General; Rajesh Kumar, IPS officer and CRPF Additional Director General (Jammu and Kashmir Zone); Vineet Brij Lal, IPS officer and CRPF Inspector General (Kashmir Operations Sector); Pawan Kumar Sharma, CRPF Inspector General (Srinagar Sector); along with other officers from CRPF, Army, BSF, ITBP, SSB, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and local administration.

A moving wreath-laying ceremony was followed by a blood donation camp, which saw an impressive turnout from volunteers. The event was marked with a solemn memorial ceremony where officers, dignitaries, and Jawans paid heartfelt floral tributes at the Martyrs Memorial in Lethpora, followed by a respectful salute from the Ceremonial Guard of CRPF. A minute of silence was observed, accompanied by the somber sound of the Bugle, in honor of the martyrs.

The atmosphere was thick with emotion as the assembly recalled the ultimate sacrifice made by the brave soldiers, who gave their lives in the line of duty. This ceremony served as a profound tribute to the martyrs, with a palpable sense of reverence and gratitude, officials remarked.

In a heartfelt gesture towards the martyrs, the CRPF organized a blood donation camp, a cherished tradition upheld each year. The event received enthusiastic participation from all officers and jawans, who voluntarily donated blood, collectively contributing over 100 units to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital in Srinagar, officials noted.

The Pulwama terror attack occurred on February 14, 2019, when a convoy of vehicles carrying Indian security personnel on the Jammu-Srinagar highway was targeted by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethpora in Pulwama district.

This attack resulted in the deaths of 40 CRPF personnel along with the assailant, Adil Ahmad Dar, who was a local resident of Pulwama.

The responsibility for this terror act was claimed by the Pakistan-based terror group, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

This incident severely impacted India-Pakistan relations, leading to a military standoff in 2019.

Subsequently, Indian authorities identified 19 accused individuals.

By August 2021, the main accused, along with six others, had been killed, and seven individuals had been apprehended.
