New Delhi, Feb 14 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, paid tribute on Friday to the courageous soldiers who were martyred in the Pulwama terrorist attack of 2019.

In a heartfelt post on X, he stated, “I extend my deepest salute and sincere tribute to our valiant soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Pulwama terrorist attack. India will eternally remember their supreme sacrifice.” This commemoration took place on the sixth anniversary of the tragic incident, which resulted in the loss of 40 brave jawans.

Expressing similar sentiments, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge remarked, “As a grateful nation, we honor the unwavering bravery and sacrifice of our Pulwama martyrs. Our profound gratitude goes out to them. Their selfless dedication to Bharat Mata will always be cherished.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, another Congress leader, also honored the martyrs on social media, stating, “I salute and extend my heartfelt tribute to our courageous soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Pulwama attack. The nation will forever be indebted to these brave martyrs and their families. Jai Hind.”

The attack, which occurred on February 14, 2019, involved a local terrorist from the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group who drove an explosive-laden vehicle into a CRPF convoy in the Lethpora area of Pulwama district, claiming the lives of 40 troopers.

In response to this horrific incident, the Indian Air Force executed airstrikes on terror training camps situated deep within Pakistani territory in the Balakote area as a retaliation.

This decisive action was taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after thoroughly evaluating all potential consequences of such a measure.

The Pulwama attack had escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, almost bringing the two nations to a state of war.

While Pakistan claimed that no damage occurred due to the Indian Air Force's 2019 bombings, they ultimately had to concede defeat as they failed to effectively respond to the military operations.
