Jammu, March 31 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor (L-G) of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, expressed on Tuesday the importance of the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Union Territory in crafting a promising future for everyone.
During the opening ceremony of the 'Jammu and Kashmir Cultural Festival', L-G Sinha remarked: "The land of Jammu is rich in traditions. Dogri melodies that encapsulate life's lessons, crafts that reflect our experiences, and art imbued with devotion are our dynamic legacies infusing new vigor into our lives."
The Jammu and Kashmir Cultural Festival was organized by the Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust in Jammu.
Also present at the event was Anant Shri Vibhushit Junapeethadheeshwar Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Pujyapad Shri Swami Avdheshanand Giri Ji Maharaj.
The L-G highlighted that the Jammu and Kashmir Cultural Festival aims to "safeguard our rich heritage, recommit to folk arts, spiritual foundations, and traditions, thereby fortifying our identity."
He stated, "I have faith that our traditional performances will brighten the atmosphere with color and melody, that cultural exhibitions will convey our invaluable legacy to everyone, and that awareness programs for farmers will honor the hands that nurture the soul of this Union Territory."
The L-G asserted that it is India's responsibility to empower our knowledge economy and disseminate innovations, cultural values, and philosophical concepts on a global scale.
He pointed out that as global conflicts divide societies and humanity seeks peace, India stands as a beacon to illuminate a new path for the world.
"We are the descendants of a civilization that illuminated the world with knowledge, culture, and spirituality thousands of years ago," he added.
L-G Sinha urged the youth to reconnect with their roots, foster new ideas and innovations, and leverage cultural heritage as a powerful tool for societal transformation.
He emphasized, "In this interconnected world, we must fortify the bonds of brotherhood and advocate for compassion over conflict globally."
He remarked that art and culture provide significant insights and purposes essential for nation-building.
"For India, art, spirituality, philosophy, and ethics serve as bridges connecting generations," he continued.
"We are navigating one of the most challenging phases in modern history, and we are fortunate to have Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm, setting new standards in advancement and welfare," stated the L-G.
He underscored that India's transformation over the last twelve years has been remarkable.
He stressed the collective need to accelerate this transformation.
The L-G asserted that in the upcoming decades, we must leverage new energies and resolve to build technologies and systems that redefine domestic and global industries.
He concluded, "On international stages, India has regained its ancient glory and self-assurance. Indian engineers, scientists, industrialists, and innovators are now at the forefront of global discussions, with their technologies and talents receiving worldwide recognition. I perceive this as a renaissance, rekindling India's illustrious past."
The Jammu and Kashmir Cultural Festival included a variety of activities such as cultural exhibitions, traditional folk performances, a Kisan Mela, and a free medical camp.
Distinguished individuals were also honored for their remarkable contributions in various fields during the event.
Attendees included members of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Sham Lal Sharma and Devyani Rana; Mahant Rohit Shastri, president of the Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust; Mukul Kanitkar, notable citizens, and a large audience.
Officials such as Suresh Kumar Sharma, member of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Ramesh Kumar, Jammu Divisional Commissioner, and senior government representatives were also present.
