Dharamshala, Oct 22 (NationPress) The Tibetan spiritual leader, Dalai Lama, has sent a letter to Japan's newly appointed Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, congratulating her on her historic achievement as the country's first female leader.
In his correspondence, the Dalai Lama expressed, “Your extensive experience in public service will undoubtedly assist you in guiding Japan during this pivotal moment in its history, especially as the world grapples with significant challenges.”
Takaichi, aged 64 and recognized for her hardline conservative stance, has made history by becoming the 104th Prime Minister of Japan. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar have also offered their congratulations to her.
Commending Japan's enduring dedication to peace, the Dalai Lama remarked, “Having endured tremendous suffering from nuclear attacks, Japan has consistently led global efforts to promote peace. It has been a vocal advocate for nuclear disarmament.”
He added, “In these times of uncertainty and turmoil across many regions, it is crucial that we strive to resolve issues through dialogue and diplomacy.”
Expressing support for Japan's selection of its first female Prime Minister, the Nobel Peace Laureate stated, “I believe that women inherently possess more compassion and are more attuned to the emotions of others -- virtues I first learned from my beloved mother. Research also indicates that women are more empathetic to the suffering of others. Thus, I am convinced that if more leaders were women, the world would be a more understanding and peaceful place.”
“I wish you great success in navigating the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in enhancing happiness in Japan and globally,” the Dalai Lama concluded.
