New Delhi, Jan 24 (NationPress) The Minister of State (MoS) for Defence, Sanjay Seth, honored the champions of the Grand Finale of the National School Band Competition on Saturday. This event was part of the 77th Republic Day Celebrations, as stated by an official.
He referred to the country's youth as the pivotal force in its journey towards becoming 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.
Coinciding with National Girl Child Day, observed annually on January 24, MoS Seth praised the contributions of female personnel during Operation Sindoor, asserting that the 'Nari Shakti' (women power) of India is fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Viksit Bharat'.
During the award ceremony, a school from Maharashtra clinched the top spot in the Brass Band Boys category. The Sanjivini Sainik School and Junior College from Kopargaon in Ahilyanagar district received a cash prize of Rs 51,000.
The Providence Girls Higher Secondary School from Kozhikode, Kerala took home the first prize in the Brass Band Girls category, also winning Rs 51,000.
In the Pipe Band Boys category, Kairali School from Sec-2, HEC Township, Ranchi emerged victorious, while the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya from Kanke, Ranchi won in the Pipe Band Girls category, each receiving Rs 51,000.
Union Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh commended the partnership between the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education for institutionalizing this competition as part of the Republic Day Celebrations at the National Bal Bhavan in Delhi.
He praised the students for their commitment, accuracy, and musical talent, noting that such endeavors foster a strong sense of patriotism and national service among young individuals.
Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Ministry of Education's School Education and Literacy Department, highlighted the importance of co-curricular activities like the National School Band Competition in developing leadership, discipline, teamwork, and overall growth in students.
Four winning bands from each state in every category participated in the zonal level competition.
Building on last year's success, this year's enthusiasm and participation levels increased significantly.
A total of 763 school band teams competed at the state level, with 94 teams advancing to the zonal level.
In the zonal competition, 80 school band teams from 30 states/Union Territories, comprising 2,217 children, took part.
