New Delhi, May 11 (NationPress) The Delhi Airport has recently released a passenger advisory as tensions between India and Pakistan escalate, despite a ceasefire agreement facilitated by the US.
In the advisory issued at 2:42 a.m. on Sunday, operations at Delhi Airport are reported to be running smoothly. However, due to changing airspace conditions and enhanced security measures mandated by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security, passengers may experience adjustments in flight schedules and longer wait times at security checks.
Travelers are urged to stay informed via their airlines' communication channels, follow the specified guidelines for cabin and check-in baggage, arrive early to accommodate any potential security delays, cooperate fully with airline and security personnel for smooth processing, and check flight status through their airline or the official Delhi Airport website.
The advisory further stated: "We strongly recommend that all passengers rely solely on official updates for accurate information and avoid sharing unverified content."
In line with the latest guidance from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, 32 airports will remain closed for civil flights until the morning of May 15 amidst rising India-Pakistan tensions.
On Saturday, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and relevant aviation authorities issued multiple notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) declaring the temporary closure of these airports in Northern and Western India for all civil flight operations.
The NOTAM will be in effect from May 9, 2025, to May 14, 2025 (corresponding to 0529 IST on May 15, 2025), due to operational reasons.
The list of 32 airports includes: Adhampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali (Bhuntar), Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot (Hirasar), Sarsawa, Shimla, Srinagar, Thoise, and Uttarlai.
As tensions with Pakistan rise, drones have been detected at 26 locations from Baramulla in the north to Bhuj in the south, along both the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC), as reported by defense sources.
These drones are suspected to be armed and pose potential threats to both civilian and military targets.
The locations of drone sightings include Baramulla, Srinagar, Avantipora, Nagrota, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Lalgarh Jatta, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bhuj, Kuarbet, and Lakhi Nala.
This announcement follows Pakistan's provocations against India, which included targeting several terror sites under Operation Sindoor.
The Indian armed forces are actively countering aerial strikes, delivering a proportionate and firm response to Pakistan's aggressions.
