New Delhi, May 12 (NationPress) The operations at Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) are presently described as smooth. However, due to evolving airspace conditions and heightened security protocols, certain flight schedules and the efficiency of security checkpoints may experience some disruptions.
The airport authorities recommend that travelers stay tuned to updates and guidance from their respective airlines, allowing for additional time for security checks due to these intensified measures. Compliance with hand baggage and check-in luggage regulations is strongly advised.
Passengers are encouraged to verify their flight statuses through the airline or the official Delhi Airport website.
“We urge all passengers to rely solely on official sources for reliable updates. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure a safe and efficient journey,” stated the management of Delhi airport.
The ongoing enhanced security measures, implemented in light of the tensions between India and Pakistan, remain in effect as a precaution. Although a ceasefire agreement was reached on Saturday, the government is proceeding cautiously regarding security.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting with the three service chiefs and the Chief of Defence Staff to assess the current situation.
Air India has indicated that, per a directive from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security regarding increased airport measures, passengers across India should arrive at their respective airports at least three hours prior to their scheduled departures to facilitate smooth check-in and boarding processes. Note that check-in closes 75 minutes before departure.
In the meantime, Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has also released an advisory urging passengers to arrive well ahead of their scheduled departure times due to the heightened security measures.
Travelers are advised to present Government-issued photo IDs and keep their passports, visas, and tickets/boarding passes readily accessible for inspection.
In addition, flyers are encouraged to pack efficiently and lightly according to security protocols and to consult the airline or airport's website before packing to avoid prohibited items.
Liquids should be contained in 100ml bottles in carry-on luggage, stored in a clear zip-lock bag; electronic devices such as laptops and tablets need to be separately placed in trays during screening, as per the advisory.
Passengers are also reminded to remain close to their luggage, as any unattended baggage may be considered suspicious, potentially triggering emergency procedures.
Furthermore, travelers are advised to keep an eye on announcements via the airport's social media channels, displays, and airline apps/websites to stay updated and to report any unusual occurrences immediately to the nearest CISF officer or airport personnel.
