New Delhi, Dec 30 (NationPress) The Delhi BJP criticized the former AAP government, headed by ex-Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, for passing on the enduring issue of pollution to the Rekha Gupta government. They also commended the Chief Minister for her accomplishments during her initial 10 months in power.

Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor stated that aside from the inherited challenge of air pollution from the Kejriwal administration, the Rekha Gupta government has achieved numerous milestones in its short tenure.

“Even concerning air quality, pollution levels this winter have been lower than in previous years, although further efforts are required,” he remarked.

Kapoor asserted that the Kejriwal administration left Delhi in a stagnant state, whereas the BJP-led government under Rekha Gupta has set the capital back on a developmental track within just 10 months.

Highlighting the government’s successes, Kapoor pointed out that the previous administration had allowed the bus service to deteriorate. By introducing 460 electric buses under the Centre’s ‘FAME’ scheme and adding 500 buses through the ‘DEVI’ scheme, the Rekha Gupta government has revitalized Delhi’s transportation system.

He noted that the Kejriwal government left behind roads plagued with potholes, while the Rekha Gupta administration has repaired over 50,000 potholes and constructed new roads, significantly enhancing the city's infrastructure.

Kapoor further claimed that the Kejriwal era provided fraudulent Mohalla Clinics, whereas Rekha Gupta is now establishing ‘Ayushman Arogya Mandirs’ that feature qualified doctors and comprehensive diagnostic services.

While the Kejriwal government made no progress on cleaning the Yamuna over 11 years, the Rekha Gupta administration managed to clean the river sufficiently within just 7 months, allowing Chhath Puja celebrations in its waters, he stated.

Despite the claims of the previous government, private schools in Delhi were known for arbitrarily raising fees. The Rekha Gupta government has enacted the ‘Delhi School Fee Regulation Act’, providing significant relief to parents.

Within her first 10 months, the Rekha Gupta government has launched 45 ‘Atal Canteens’, offering new hope to the underprivileged.

Thousands of flats constructed for the economically disadvantaged were left in disrepair under Kejriwal's rule. The Rekha Gupta government has refurbished 6,476 of these units, preparing them for allotment in January 2026, as stated by the BJP spokesperson.

He added that residents of Delhi faced exorbitant water bills and fines for too long. While the Kejriwal government merely made promises about relief, the Rekha Gupta government has implemented a penalty waiver scheme that has benefitted countless families.

The Delhi BJP representative urged AAP leaders to cease spreading misinformation and to assume a role of constructive opposition; failing to do so could lead to AAP's disappearance from Delhi’s political scene.

Point of View

The situation in Delhi reflects the ongoing political tussle between the AAP and BJP. The BJP's critique points to significant governance issues inherited from the previous administration, while Gupta's early achievements signify a commitment to improvement. However, the challenge remains to address the deep-rooted issues effectively and sustainably, aligning with the interests of the citizens.
