Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Feb 4 (NationPress) A disturbing event has surfaced in the national capital, where a 36-year-old entrepreneur, Shivam Gupta, was reportedly killed with helmets by delivery personnel after attending a party late at night. His family is now urging an investigation into the suspected role of a friend in this tragic incident.
The tragic occurrence took place in Connaught Place. Shivam Gupta was said to have attended a party when he was assaulted by two young men. His family claims he was attacked near My Bar in E Block, Connaught Place, and succumbed to his injuries after a prolonged battle for survival.
Shivam’s father, Anil Kant Gupta, mentioned that his son departed for the party around 8:30 PM on January 2. He recounted that at approximately 12:15 AM, Shivam exited My Bar when he was allegedly assaulted by two individuals on motorcycles wielding helmets.
Furthermore, Anil alleged that his son’s friend, Pankaj Chaddha, was present during the attack. However, he accused Pankaj of providing misleading information to the family regarding the events that transpired.
According to Shivam’s father, his son fought for his life for 17 days in the hospital before passing away on January 19 at RML Hospital. During this time, the family reviewed CCTV footage from the night of the incident, which purportedly captured the moment Shivam was attacked by the two assailants. The footage also allegedly showed the assailants waving goodbye to Pankaj after the attack.
In a conversation with IANS about that fateful night, Shivam’s father expressed, "We had no idea about his whereabouts. After midnight, we attempted to call him but discovered his phone was off. Sub Inspector Suresh Chandra later informed us that our son had been found unconscious and taken to the hospital."
"Upon my arrival, I found my son bleeding from the mouth. Pankaj soon appeared at the hospital, and when questioned about how he learned of the incident, he claimed that the police had contacted him. However, the police did not call him, and Pankaj provided conflicting accounts to both me and my wife. He failed to mention that he was present during the assault and that Shivam was struck with helmets," he recounted.
"Pankaj was only five meters away but did not disclose any information. Upon touching Shivam’s head, we noticed an injury, prompting the doctor to recommend a CT scan of his skull."
"As we were taking him for the CT scan, my brother received a call from SI Suresh Chandra who revealed that Shivam had been assaulted with helmets. The technician informed us that there was a significant injury to his head.
"Shivam showed signs of recovery, but on January 11, the doctors reported a brain infection, leading to an installation of a pipe in his spine and head, which resulted in complications. He passed away on January 19 around 1 PM," he said.
"We did not contact the police initially as we were preoccupied with medical procedures. It is rumored that the assailants were delivery boys, but they did not appear to fit that description," he stated.
Shivam's father added that about a year prior, his son and Pankaj had a confrontation.
Shivam's mother also raised serious doubts about Pankaj's involvement in the deadly assault on her son and called for him to be interrogated.
She stated, "Pankaj Chaddha has been silent regarding his involvement. Yet, when we reviewed the CCTV footage, it was evident he was present and did nothing. He has not been in contact with us or visited our home. If he is not lying, he should come forward and speak with us. I believe he should be brought before us for discussion."
Currently, authorities have apprehended two suspects, Osama and Mohammad Areem, connected to this incident, but the family is insisting that Pankaj Chaddha be investigated as he may be implicated in a conspiracy behind this tragic event.
