Reports indicate that the house was severely damaged as the furious mob broke in. Additionally, Sameer was reportedly beaten severely and succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital.

A senior officer from the Malda district police stated, "A shooting occurred yesterday, resulting in injuries to four individuals. In retaliation, angry villagers attacked the shooter’s home and assaulted his father. Unfortunately, the youth died on his way to the hospital. A case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing."
As of now, no arrests have been made related to this incident. However, a separate complaint against Sameer regarding the firing has been filed.
