Delhi CM Rekha Gupta flags off Somnath Yatra; 1,400 devotees head to Gujarat

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday, 30 April flagged off the 'Somnath Swabhiman Parv - Somnath Yatra', dispatching over 1,400 devotees from New Delhi to the revered Somnath Temple in Gujarat. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was also present at the launch event, lending central government weight to what organisers have described as a milestone pilgrimage marking 1,000 years of the Somnath Temple's legacy.

Key Details of the Yatra

A special train was flagged off for the pilgrimage, which was expected to reach Somnath the following morning. Pilgrims are scheduled to stay from 1 May to 3 May, during which they will offer prayers at the Somnath Temple and visit nearby shrines. Notably, the entire yatra has been organised free of cost, with the Gujarat government making arrangements for accommodation, food, drinking water, and other essential facilities.
