New Delhi, Sep 5 (NationPress) In a proactive measure, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and city BJP President Virendra Sachdeva convened on Friday to develop a comprehensive strategy aimed at gathering flood relief supplies from the community and ensuring they reach those in need, thereby enhancing the efforts of governmental agencies.

As the Yamuna River surpassed the 207 meter threshold, flooding numerous low-lying regions, the Chief Minister called for the involvement of party workers to broaden the scope of relief initiatives.

Following the meeting, CM Gupta shared on X, “Today, a significant meeting took place at the Delhi BJP office led by State President @Virend_Sachdeva ji, where we assessed the flood situation in Delhi and throughout the nation, alongside our relief measures.”

“Participating in this assembly were State Organisation General Secretary @PavanRanaRSS ji, Members of Parliament, Delhi government ministers, and state BJP officials, where we collaboratively devised a detailed strategy,” she noted.

The Chief Minister stressed that “every member of the Bharatiya Janata Party will engage actively with the public, demonstrating a spirit of service and collaboration during this crisis.”

She affirmed, ‘With the backing of the people of Delhi, we are committed to gathering and distributing relief supplies to every individual in need. The Delhi BJP will guarantee that assistance reaches all affected families.”

Earlier that day, the Chief Minister instructed officials to conduct continuous monitoring of the Yamuna water levels and ensure swift safety and relief operations for those impacted by flooding in vulnerable areas.

Post-meeting, the Chief Minister stated on X, “I conducted an online meeting with all District Magistrates in Delhi to evaluate the Yamuna's water level and the current severe rainfall.”

“I have issued clear directions to officials to maintain 24/7 monitoring, ensure no delays in relief efforts, and prioritize the safety of every resident in Delhi. The entire government team is vigilant and fully equipped to tackle any situation,” she wrote.

As of Friday morning, the Yamuna water level at Delhi's Old Railway Bridge recorded 207.33 meters at 7 a.m., showing a slight decrease from 207.35 meters at 6 a.m.

By 8 a.m., the water level dropped to 207.31 meters, offering some hope for a potential reprieve in the next 24 hours.

On Thursday, the Yamuna reached its highest level of the season, hitting 207.48 meters, exceeding the 207-meter threshold for the fifth time since 1963.

The meteorological department has predicted moderate rainfall with typical cloud cover for Friday, while heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms are anticipated on September 6 and 7.
