New Delhi, Aug 11 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Monday that her administration has reached a remarkable milestone by enacting three pivotal bills in merely five months since taking office.
While presenting an extensive report card from the recent Monsoon Session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, she remarked that the session held between August 4 and 8 was the most fruitful in nearly a decade.
In a pointed critique of the earlier government, CM Gupta highlighted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to pass only 14 bills throughout its entire five-year tenure.
The Chief Minister not only unveiled instances of corruption from the previous administration as revealed in CAG reports but also condemned the AAP's attempts to twist historical narratives, particularly regarding the controversial “Gallows House”.
“Our focus is not on political spectacles but on meaningful discussions and governance aimed at addressing public concerns,” stated CM Gupta.
“Each MLA was afforded the chance to express their views, and the Opposition received equal time to ensure the Assembly truly represented the people's voice,” she added.
Emphasizing her government's accomplishments, the Chief Minister noted that three essential bills were passed in just five months, contrasting sharply with the previous administration's 14, many of which dealt with salary adjustments and GST.
She highlighted that, adhering to democratic principles, members exercised their rights under Article 280 to raise issues in the Assembly, with extensive discussions covering 62 topics.
The Delhi School Education (Transparency and Fee Regulation) Bill was passed with a majority to prevent arbitrary fee increases in private schools, thus providing relief to parents.
Moreover, the Chief Minister pointed out that two CAG reports unveiled financial mismanagement by the former AAP government.
Funds allocated by the Central government for the cleaning of the Yamuna, the AMRUT scheme, and other projects were not properly utilized.
Alarmingly, even utilization certificates for GST revenues totaling Rs 52,000 crore were not submitted. Numerous schemes remained merely on paper, failing to benefit the public, she stated.
CM Gupta characterized this as a blatant betrayal of the people of Delhi, asserting: “Our government guarantees that every rupee is spent transparently for the public good. No funds will be left unused, and we will not tolerate any corruption.”
She further stated that her administration has countered the falsehoods and misinformation propagated by the previous government within the Assembly. She denounced the “Gallows House” controversy as a tactic of negative politics that sought to distort historical truths and tarnished the esteemed legacy of the Assembly.
