Hyderabad, Oct 6 (NationPress) Senior leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), T. Harish Rao, claimed on Sunday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is showing partiality towards Telangana. He questioned why the Union government has yet to allocate funds for the Godavari Pushkaram event in the state.
Rao pointed out that while the BJP-led central government provided Rs 100 crore to Andhra Pradesh for the upcoming Godavari Pushkaram in 2027, Telangana received no such support.
“The BJP, which granted Andhra Rs 100 crore, has offered nothing to Telangana, despite the fact that the state has contributed eight MPs to the party. Is there no Godavari river in Telangana? Why does the BJP refuse to allocate funds for our state’s Godavari Pushkaram?” he questioned.
The former minister made these comments during a gathering in Gandhari Mandal of Nizamabad district, welcoming local BJP leaders and activists who have joined the BRS.
Rao noted that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has managed to secure elections in Andhra Pradesh, demonstrating its ability to make the central government listen.
He suggested that if the BRS had a stronger representation in the Parliament, it might have compelled the BJP to release necessary funds for Telangana.
“The BJP's motto of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' is nothing more than rubbish. The party is not aligned with the interests of the poor, farmers, or Dalits; it only favors North India,” he stated.
Rao criticized the Centre for its perceived discrimination, noting that out of 157 medical colleges announced, none were allocated to Telangana.
“Is Telangana not a part of India? Why does the BJP regard Telangana as insignificant?” he asked.
He also highlighted the disparity in support prices, revealing that the support price for wheat is Rs 216 higher than that for paddy.
“Wheat cultivated in northern India is valued, but rice grown in Telangana is not. Every farmer has lost Rs 7,000 per acre due to their vote for the BJP,” he added.
Rao alleged that both major national parties, the BJP and Congress, have committed various injustices against Telangana, asserting that only the BRS can safeguard the state's interests.
He encouraged party members to unite and work diligently to ensure the BRS regains its strength in the next two years, emphasizing that the people must support the BRS to secure Telangana’s rightful share of central funds.
