Bengaluru, Oct 5 (NationPress) The Union Ministry of Minority Affairs is prioritizing capacity building for Waqf Boards and reviewing the progress of the UMEED Portal at a regional meeting scheduled for Monday in Bengaluru, as confirmed by an official on Sunday.
The gathering will include representatives from Waqf Boards in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, as stated in the announcement.
This meeting aims to assess the current status of data uploads, tackle any implementation challenges, and devise strategies to empower Waqf institutions further, according to the statement.
This initiative aligns with the Ministry’s objectives under the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (UMEED) Act, 2025, which took effect in April this year.
The focus will be on fortifying Waqf Boards and ensuring effective management of Waqf properties through the recently introduced UMEED Central Portal.
Since the UMEED Portal's launch in June 2025, Waqf Boards nationwide are required to upload all Waqf property details within six months.
The portal features a three-tier maker-checker-approver system to guarantee transparency, accuracy, and accountability in data entry and verification.
Feedback from state officials and Waqf Board representatives will be solicited during the meeting to enhance operations and coordination.
The Union Government, through the Ministry of Minority Affairs, is devoted to modernizing Waqf administration, aiming to unleash the full developmental potential of Waqf properties for the benefit of minority communities.
Senior officials from the Minority Welfare Departments in these states will also participate in the event.
This meeting is part of the Ministry's preparations to celebrate the first anniversary of the UMEED portal in April next year.
Participants will be encouraged to share their experiences and propose improvements for the implementation of the UMEED Act, 2025.
