New Delhi, Feb 28 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday committed to ensuring that not a single rupee of public funds is wasted and vowed to hold accountable those guilty of corruption.
In concluding the Vote of Thanks to the LG’s address to the House, Chief Minister Gupta pledged that her administration would not pause for even a day until all election promises are fulfilled, which includes cleaning the Yamuna and revitalizing the outdated systems.
She emphasized that she and her cabinet ministers would be accessible to the citizens of Delhi 24/7.
“We are set to operate in Mission Mode and transform the outdated government machinery into a super express, aiming to alleviate the struggles faced by the people over the last decade,” she stated.
Gupta asserted that she would not engage in passing blame or partake in vendetta politics like her predecessors. “I want to inform this honorable House that we have paid Rs 192 crore to the MCD today,” she remarked.
She pointed out that the Assembly was previously utilized to criticize Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena, but now it is focused on serving the public and enhancing infrastructure and health services.
“We initiated the Ayushman Bharat scheme in our first Cabinet meeting. We even offered prayers at the Yamuna to commit to its cleaning,” she noted, showcasing how her government took action from day one.
Reiterating her government’s dedication to serving the people without delay, the CM criticized the AAP, labeling it a Dharna Party for its penchant for protests while in power and now in Opposition.
CM Gupta mentioned that the Leader of the Opposition, Atishi, has been increasingly anxious and repeatedly questioning her regarding the Rs 2,500 monthly support for women, assuring her that Prime Minister Modi's promise would indeed be fulfilled.
“The AAP has been preoccupied with seeking publicity constantly through social media,” she added.
She also criticized the former AAP administration for the high defecation rates in the national capital, inadequate permanent housing for slum residents, and an increase in government school dropout rates.
“The previous government obstructed Delhiites from reaping the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme due to their ego. They prevented the launch of the scheme simply because it had the Prime Minister's name attached to it,” she explained.
Addressing the suspension of AAP legislators from the Assembly on February 25, she remarked that they were seeking any excuse to avoid attending the House proceedings where the CAG reports were set to expose their former government.
“They concocted the false issue of removing photographs of B.R. Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh from my office as an excuse to stay out of the Assembly,” she stated.
Describing former CM Arvind Kejriwal as overly ambitious, she highlighted that the previous Delhi government failed in its administrative and financial responsibilities regarding projects like Yamuna cleaning, Delhi Metro extension, and managing waste from landfill sites.
She referred to over 60 crore individuals taking a dip in the Mahakumbh at Prayagraj and questioned, “If the Ganga can be cleaned, why not the Yamuna?”
On a lighter note, she teased AAP activists for their social media efforts. “On my first day in office, they began creating memes about me posing with a single bouquet surrounded by well-wishers,” she joked.
“I want to clarify that I am a daughter of a Baniya – a community that strictly avoids wasteful spending – and I assure Delhiites that I will ensure that not a single rupee of public funds is squandered in our city,” she concluded.
At the conclusion of the Vote of Thanks discussion, a motion was passed via voice vote, moved by Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
