Delhi Congress President Critiques AAP's 'Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana' for Deceptive Tactics

New Delhi, Dec 31 (NationPress) Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav expressed strong disapproval of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) concerning the registration initiative for the 'Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana.' He accused the party's National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal of "misleading" the populace of Delhi through insincere commitments.

In a statement to IANS, Yadav remarked, "Kejriwal is notorious for making declarations devoid of accountability. He lacks responses for his earlier unmet promises."

"Whenever he visits any Assembly constituency and is questioned about the status of his past promises -- regarding issues like electricity bills, dirty water, or broken roads -- he dodges inquiries. These announcements serve solely to mislead the public," he asserted.

In response to mounting criticism, the AAP has commenced the registration for the scheme, which pledges an honorarium of Rs 18,000 monthly to temple priests and Gurdwara granthis.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi inaugurated the initiative from a Gurdwara in Karol Bagh, while Kejriwal initiated registrations at the Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place.

Discussing the scheme, Kejriwal stated, "This is the first initiative of its kind in the country, offering monthly financial assistance to priests and granthis."

However, the announcement has faced backlash from leaders of both the BJP and Congress, who have labeled it a "poll gimmick."

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera described the scheme as a blatant "attempt" by the AAP to mislead the residents of Delhi.

"Regardless of what the AAP does, the residents of Delhi are determined to elect a Congress-led government," Khera informed IANS.

BJP MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar also criticized the AAP, charging the party with hypocrisy.

"The AAP has transformed into the 'new Congress,' employing similar strategies to attract Hindu voters during elections," Chandrasekhar commented to IANS.

He likened Kejriwal's actions to that of Congress leaders Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, who frequently visit temples during election seasons.

Chandrasekhar further condemned the AAP for allegedly forsaking its anti-corruption principles, stating, "AAP, born out of a battle against corruption, now endorses the same graft it once opposed. It has truly become the new Congress."

Both BJP and Congress have denounced the AAP for utilizing the 'Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana' as a last-minute strategy to secure votes ahead of the Assembly elections, branding it a "desperate poll stunt."
