AAP's 'Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana' Faces Backlash from BJP and Congress

New Delhi, Dec 31 (NationPress) As the registration for Aam Aadmi Party's Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana is set to take place in the capital on Tuesday, the ruling party has found itself under significant scrutiny from both BJP and Congress. Both opposition parties claim that the Delhi government is misleading and deceiving the residents of the city with its false and fraudulent promises.

Former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar criticized the AAP government for its hypocrisy, while Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera condemned it as yet another blatant attempt to defraud the people of Delhi.

AAP's leader, Arvind Kejriwal, plans to visit Delhi's Hanuman Temple on Tuesday to initiate the registration process for priests under this new scheme. He is expected to be accompanied by various AAP ministers and leaders during this event.

In a press conference on Monday, Kejriwal stated, "The scheme is named Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana. Through this initiative, temple priests and 'granthis' of Gurudwaras will receive an honorarium of approximately Rs 18,000 each month. This is a first for the country."

The AAP's attempt to attract the Hindu electorate ahead of the Assembly elections has drawn criticism from numerous quarters, with many labeling it as an opportunistic move and a mere election gimmick.

Pawan Khera, speaking to IANS, criticized the AAP government for indulging in a spree of electoral sops, asserting, "Regardless of their actions, the people of Delhi have already decided to support a Congress-led government."

BJP MP Chandrasekhar remarked to IANS that the Kejriwal-led AAP has transformed into a new Congress, pointing out the similarities between the two parties in their appeals for Hindu votes during elections.

"The Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana highlights the hypocrisy of AAP. Today, there is no distinction between AAP and Congress. Both turn into Chunavi Hindu during election times," he commented.

He further noted that Congress leaders Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi don saffron attire and engage in temple visits during elections, and accused Kejriwal of adopting similar electoral strategies.

Taking a dig at AAP's political tactics, he suggested that a party originally founded on the promise of combating corruption is now indulging in similar practices to those of the veteran party.

"Thus, AAP has become the new Congress," he concluded.

Earlier today, the BJP circulated a poster branding former Delhi CM Kejriwal as 'Chunavi Hindu'.
