Kejriwal: A 'Poll-Driven' Hindu, Claims Delhi BJP on His 'Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana'

New Delhi, Dec 31 (NationPress) The Delhi BJP launched a fierce assault on AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday, claiming that the former chief minister's affection for Hindus is only visible in the lead-up to elections.

Taking to the social media platform X, the Delhi BJP shared a poster branding Kejriwal as a "Poll-Driven Hindu" (one who remembers Hinduism merely before elections).

The Delhi BJP stated: "The individual who has spent the last decade ensuring salaries for Imams, whose 'nani' (grandmother) and he himself disapproved of the construction of the Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya, who established liquor stores near temples and gurudwaras, and who engages in anti-Hindu politics has suddenly begun to express concern for priests and granthis."

The poster showcases Kejriwal adorned with rudraksha and floral garlands, with 'roli' (vermilion) sprinkled over his body.

It carries the caption "Mandir Jana hai bas mere liye ek chalaava, pujariyon ka samman bas mera chunavi dikhava, sanatan dharma ka maine humesh mazak banaya" (visiting temples is merely a deceptive strategy, honoring priests is a poll gimmick, and I have always ridiculed Hindu Dharma).

The Delhi BJP's poster emerged just a day after Kejriwal introduced the 'Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana', which promises Hindu and Sikh priests a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000.

Kejriwal's announcement, made just before the Delhi Assembly elections, has faced criticism from multiple sources.

BJP leaders are questioning the scheme's timing and its underlying motives.

Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva referred to the initiative as an attempt to secure Hindu votes.

Since 2013, the AAP government in Delhi has been distributing salaries to various groups but had not previously contemplated such a scheme for religious leaders (pujaris, granthis), he remarked.

Kejriwal has recently been at the center of controversy regarding the 'Delhi Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana', which the Delhi Women and Child Development department declared as "non-existent".
