New Delhi, June 15 (NationPress) The Delhi Police successfully dismantled a counterfeit operation involved in the illegal production of high-end apparel and perfumes using counterfeit labels of ‘Louis Vuitton’, officials reported on Sunday.
A 29-year-old suspect was taken into custody, with authorities recovering 200 counterfeit items including printed shorts, t-shirts, belts, and perfumes bearing the fraudulent ‘Louis Vuitton’ insignia, as stated in a police announcement.
The bust followed a complaint from representatives of the luxury brand indicating that their products, including shorts, t-shirts, belts, and perfumes, were being falsely branded and sold, resulting in significant financial damage to the company.
A police team executed a raid at a retail outlet named BOYS STREET in the Pitampura region of Delhi, apprehending the accused, identified as Harshit.
The police reported, “Around 200 counterfeit items such as printed shorts, t-shirts, belts, and perfumes with the fake ‘Louis Vuitton’ labels were seized from the store.”
As per police statements, the suspect operated a production facility where he manufactured clothing, attached counterfeit tags of reputable brands, and marketed these items as authentic products.
He falsely claimed to be a licensed distributor for these brands.
During interrogation, the accused revealed his method of operation.
He disclosed that a manufacturing unit was established by an individual named Pankaj Manchanda last year, which has been producing shorts, t-shirts, belts, and perfumes. Counterfeit labels were affixed to these products, which were then sold as genuine items of the respective brands.
The police are currently seeking the key suspect, who is reportedly outside the country.
