Chennai, June 16 (NationPress) The Joint Action Council of Tamil Nadu Teachers Organisations and Government Employees Organisations (JACTO-GEO) has strongly denied media claims suggesting that its state coordinator met with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) President and actor-turned-politician Vijay to discuss critical demands regarding government employees and teachers, including the old pension scheme.
In an official release issued on Sunday, JACTO-GEO made it clear that no such meeting occurred and labeled the reports as “entirely baseless”.
“On behalf of JACTO-GEO, we categorically reject the news circulating in various media platforms implying that our state coordinator engaged with TVK President Vijay last Friday concerning the demands of government employees and teachers, particularly regarding old pensions,” the statement indicated.
JACTO-GEO represents a broad coalition of associations including government employees, educators, and civil servants throughout Tamil Nadu.
“While individual associations have the autonomy to make decisions and take actions, these do not represent the collective position or involvement of JACTO-GEO as a whole,” the statement emphasized.
The organization reiterated its longstanding commitment to advocating for the rights of public sector workers in the region.
For over 25 years, JACTO-GEO has consistently championed the welfare of teachers, civil servants, and other government personnel through protests and negotiations, irrespective of the political party in power.
Throughout its history, the federation has achieved significant milestones, including salary adjustments and the reinstatement of lost employee benefits.
In its recent campaigns, JACTO-GEO successfully urged the state government to address and implement nine long-awaited demands.
These demands encompass vital provisions such as surrender leave and the incorporation of maternity leave within the official work schedule.
Moreover, the state government has assured the federation that the report from the committee assigned to review the old pension scheme will be submitted by September 30.
“We are dedicated to achieving justice and long-term welfare for all government employees, and we will persist in our endeavors through legitimate democratic channels,” the statement concluded.
This clarification aims to eliminate any misunderstandings and reinforce JACTO-GEO's independent, non-partisan stance in advocating for state employees.
