Chennai, Feb 26 (NationPress) Tamil superstar-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay on Wednesday initiated the #GetOut signature campaign, intended to denounce the governing bodies at both state and national levels.
During the first anniversary celebrations of TVK, held in Mahabalipuram, Vijay asserted that the campaign is a direct reaction to what he termed the anti-people policies of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led Tamil Nadu administration and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government.
The campaign, utilizing the hashtag #GetOut (BJP and DMK), advocates for the ousting of both governments, citing their failure to tackle the urgent issues confronting the citizens of Tamil Nadu.
Vijay accused both parties of colluding to obscure the real challenges faced by the populace.
He characterized their actions as a synchronized effort to distract from the hardships of the average citizen.
Referring to what he perceived as a partnership between the BJP and DMK, Vijay remarked, "One sings while the other dances in harmony, symbolizing their united front in perpetuating the current situation. This results in the voices of the common people being ignored and unresolved."
A major grievance emphasized in the campaign is the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the disputable three-language policy.
Vijay condemned both policies, arguing they jeopardize Tamil Nadu's distinctive cultural and linguistic essence.
"Let us unite to #GetOut the central and state administrations for enforcing NEP 2020 and the three-language policy while disregarding the serious concerns of the populace," he urged, calling on the public to hold both governments responsible.
The #GetOut campaign document accused both governments of stifling dissent through intimidation, violence, and fear. It further criticized their failure to safeguard women's rights, tackle social injustices, and mitigate vote bank politics.
The TVK also criticized the Stalin government, claiming it favors publicity over substantial action. Furthermore, the campaign raised alarms regarding the increasing violence against ordinary citizens for political gain, exploitation of labor, and reckless depletion of natural resources to benefit a select few.
Vijay called upon the citizens of Tamil Nadu to participate in the movement. "We cannot afford to ignore the plight of the people," he emphasized.
Alongside Vijay, TVK's General Secretaries N Anand and Aadhav Arjuna endorsed the #GetOut signature campaign, marking a pivotal moment in the party's political journey.
