Jammu, Jan 23 (NationPress) The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) regarding the bail request filed by Engineer Rashid, the Lok Sabha representative from Baramulla constituency in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Inam-un-Nabi, the chief spokesperson of the Awami Ittihad Party (AIP), the High Court's notice comes in response to a plea by Engineer Rashid seeking bail.

He mentioned that the request aims for the High Court to instruct the trial court judge to accelerate the decision-making on his pending bail application.

Alternatively, Engineer Rashid has asked the Delhi High Court to evaluate the situation and render a decision regarding his bail. The upcoming hearing is set for January 30, 2025.

This legal action is part of Engineer Rashid's persistent struggle to obtain release from extended detention.

The AIP leadership asserts that the accusations against their leader are politically driven, intended to undermine his advocacy for the democratic rights of the Jammu and Kashmir populace.

The next court session is scheduled for January 30, 2025.

The AIP has expressed optimism for a fair and prompt ruling in the matter.

Notably, Engineer Rashid contested the Lok Sabha elections from Tihar Jail and achieved victory against Omar Abdullah by a margin exceeding two lakh votes.

He received interim bail to care for his sick parents, during which he actively campaigned for AIP candidates in the Legislative Assembly elections.

Despite his apparent popularity and ability to draw crowds during speeches, Engineer Rashid's party managed to secure only one Assembly seat in the elections. His brother won from the Langate Assembly constituency in Kupwara district.

Previously, Engineer Rashid represented the Langate Assembly constituency twice before opting to run for the Lok Sabha.
