New Delhi, Jan 10 (NationPress) The Delhi Lieutenant Governor, V.K. Saxena, expressed strong criticism towards the former Aam Aadmi Party administration on Saturday for failing to pay the required funds and for postponing the transfer of land in Narela intended for two state universities to establish their new campuses.
Saxena articulated his disappointment, noting that although land was allocated in January 2024, the previous Delhi Government neglected to address the requests from their own universities and refrained from making any payments.
Previously, the LG oversaw the official transfer of more than 35 acres of DDA land to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) and Delhi Teachers’ University (DTeU) at Narela, according to an official statement.
The event was also graced by Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood.
In a social media message, the LG stated, “Establishing new university campuses will enhance the higher education framework in the National Capital, while also boosting the DDA’s initiative to develop Narela into an educational hub and a self-sustaining model sub-city equipped with modern amenities.”
He highlighted that only after the new government assumed office last year was a budget of Rs 500 crore allocated for land acquisition.
“I am happy to announce that Rs 452 crore has already been paid to the DDA, and additionally, Rs 500 crore has been sanctioned in the Revised Estimates for 2025-26. This illustrates the Delhi Government’s commitment to converting vision into action and establishing a robust and sustainable foundation for the educational and socio-economic advancement of Delhi,” he remarked.
During a prior gathering, Minister Ashish Sood commended the lesser-known Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) and pledged to enhance facilities and improve campus placements.
“The Delhi Skill Entrepreneur University is an extraordinary initiative. Over the last 11 years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has advocated for innovative concepts such as startups, scaling, and recognition-based learning. In the past six years, DSEU has achieved notable milestones,” he stated.
The minister reassured students that the Delhi government would collaborate with startups and PSUs to boost the campus placement ratio at DSEU.
