New Delhi, Feb 25 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, V.K. Saxena, directed a pointed critique at AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday, asserting that the citizens of Delhi have robustly responded to the former Chief Minister regarding his previous comments about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While speaking to journalists on the Assembly grounds, LG Saxena stated, “It is undeniable that Arvind Kejriwal has made numerous disparaging comments about the Prime Minister. He even claimed that if 'PM Modi wishes to secure victory in the Delhi elections, he must be reborn.'
“Whenever someone belittles another, the response ultimately comes from the populace,” he added.
Reflecting on the occasion when AAP MLA Atishi took the oath as Delhi Chief Minister, succeeding Kejriwal, the LG noted, “Kejriwal mentioned that Atishi was a 'temporary Chief Minister' and assured that he would reclaim his position later.”
“I prefer not to elaborate, but the Supreme Court had already instructed him to refrain from entering the Secretariat or signing any official documents. The people have now cast their votes, and I will leave it at that,” he continued.
Reiterating the BJP-led administration’s dedication to the advancement of Delhi, Saxena stated, “Our objective is evident—we intend to develop Delhi, clean the Yamuna, tackle the landfill crisis, and enhance facilities for the underprivileged.”
Earlier, in his Assembly address, Saxena underscored the 'Viksit Delhi' manifesto as the cornerstone of the new administration, promising a government free of corruption.
He confirmed that the administration would align with PM Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas, aur Sabka Samman.”
Additionally, he reproached the former AAP-led government for hindering substantial discussions in the House and using the Assembly to criticize constitutional authorities.
After his address, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the CAG report in the Assembly, leading to a discussion among lawmakers as part of the 'Vote of Thanks' for the LG's speech.
Meanwhile, the Assembly experienced a tumultuous session as 21 AAP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Atishi, were suspended for disorderly conduct during the LG's speech.
The ongoing three-day Delhi Assembly session, which began on Monday with the swearing-in of newly-elected MLAs and the appointment of the House Speaker and Deputy Speaker, is scheduled to conclude on Thursday.
