New Delhi, Feb 9 (NationPress) Following a decisive win in the recent Assembly elections, the jubilation at the Delhi BJP office continued on Sunday, while the party formally requested an appointment with Lieutenant Governor (L-G) V.K. Saxena to convene with the newly-elected legislators.
In a correspondence directed to the L-G, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated, "I, along with BJP MPs from Delhi and our newly-elected 48 MLAs, wish to meet you at an early date."
"Please permit an appointment at your earliest convenience," he added, amid speculations that the meeting might also serve to present a letter of support from all BJP legislators for the new Leader of the Assembly.
However, Sachdeva declined to reveal any details regarding the next Delhi Chief Minister, asserting that the party leadership would ultimately make that decision, and the name of the new CM would be disclosed soon.
Earlier that day, the Delhi BJP office was the venue for a series of meetings, with newly-elected legislators arriving at the location from the morning onwards.
Joyful new legislators greeted their colleagues and supporters who accompanied them.
New Rohini legislator and BJP's Leader of Opposition in the outgoing Assembly Vijender Gupta had a meeting with L-G Saxena at Raj Niwas.
On Sunday, Saxena declared the dissolution of the seventh Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT Delhi) following Chief Minister Atishi's resignation submitted to the L-G.
Subsequently, in a post on X, Vijender Gupta vowed to reveal the corruption committed by the AAP government in the Assembly.
He stated, "The AAP government has concealed 14 CAG reports, none of which have been presented in the Assembly over the past five years. Since 2017, not a single CAG report has been introduced before the House."
"These 14 reports were suppressed because they laid bare the corruption of the AAP government and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Now that a new government is in charge, and Prime Minister Modi has committed that the CAG reports will be presented in the very first Assembly meeting, I urge the public to examine the reports closely to understand the true nature of the previous corrupt administration," he expressed in his video message.
Speaking to the media outside the Delhi BJP office, Moti Nagar legislator Harish Khurana assured that the new Delhi Cabinet would swiftly make decisions to fulfill the "Modi ki Guarantee".
He attributed Arvind Kejriwal's arrogance to his party's defeat, stating that voters had punished him for it.
"The public is paramount, and when they express their views, even the most powerful are left speechless. The public has voiced their expectations regarding road repairs, sewer management, and the cleaning of the Yamuna, and double development," he promised, asserting that the new BJP government would strive to elevate the city to be the finest in the world.
The BJP secured 48 seats in the 70-member Assembly, defeating the AAP which garnered 22 seats. This marked the BJP's first victory in Assembly elections in 27 years and the AAP's first defeat after three consecutive wins since 2013.
